A SPRINGER VACATION IN TELLURIDE

Oh, what lucky dogs.  What dogs could ask for more than a vacation in Telluride?  Duke and Duchess, two older Springer Spaniels, traveled all the way from Florida with their parents to enjoy the mountain lifestyle.  We tried our best for a sunny day, but in some ways the clouds made for a more dramatic backdrop, and the bottom line is that nobody can predict the weather in Telluride!  Duke and Duchess are almost impossible to tell apart – their markings are nearly identical for the exception of some color on Duke’s one leg.  I’ve never found it so hard to tell two dogs apart!

Their owners arrived during our early summer drought, and so sadly, there were very few wildflowers to be found.  We did find a couple in Mountain Village and climbed into the bushes for a few shots.

Sadly, nothing spectacular but the dogs, so we just went for a short walk on the trail, and stopped for a few hugs and kisses, too.

It was really important for the owners to get some good family shots.  I don’t normally do posed shots but in this case I agreed, because when the dogs were loose, their noses were often on the ground!

See what I mean?  Hey, what do you expect from hunting dogs….so many bird smells!

We did manage to get them riled up a bit though, for some bouncy Springer action!!!

The last one is my favorite – total crazy face!   Are you sure these dogs are seniors?  🙂

  Okay, time to compose ourselves….

We headed to town on a different day, and right when we arrived, the sun went behind the clouds.  It just wasn’t meant to be!  It is rare I even attempt a second session unless it is raining, so I couldn’t believe our bad luck.  However, I still think we got some fun photos.  Some lovin’ from mom….

 And some from Dad, too!

And as you know, I always try to end with a “beauty shot”.  In this case, it would be one of the whole family, taken on the river trail.  It was so clear to me during the entire shoot how precious Duke and Dutchess were to them, and how aware they were that their dogs were getting older.  I can only hope I did them justice during our two hours together.  It was such a pleasure meeting you both, and I will have your ordering gallery ready in a week or two.  I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek!

Carolyn I absolutely love ever single one of these. Great family shots and you found the only bunch of flowers there this year at that time. Great job.

Don These are really striking dogs…very camera ready. The clarity of these pics, sunny or not, is spectacular and does justice to a couple of beautiful dogs. I LOVE the running sequence, especially the goofy face.

Maggie Gorgeous, Jen! Way to capture such a happy, close knit family. I especially love the pic of them running up to their mom, their tails look so cute right in a row.

deb the goofy running shot is my favorite. 🙂 nice collection for this handsome family.

Carolyn J. Wow! You really captured the love Mom and Dad have for Duke and Duchess. Love the action shots, too! Beautiful photos of two beautiful dogs, Jen!

Elyse Gorgeous! Love those big, soulful eyes against the mellow earthy background. Especially the shot with the mountains all grey against the horizon!

Karen What a fun sequence of photos, beautifully captured! And you certainly found the background to make the posed shots work! But my favorite is the walk in the woods. And I love — in all of them — how the bond between the people & dogs shows so very clearly. Great job!

Melissa Beautiful family. I really like the one of Mom’s legs facing one way and the pup facing the other. Fantastic job!

Liza Great photos! I love the pictures of the dogs with the wildflowers…these two have such lovely expressions and markings. The running shots are adorable. The family pictures are beautiful- I’m sure they will treasure them!
