Yep, horses. Just not in Telluride. So far I haven’t had any horse clients, but my uncle owns some thoroughbreds, so with the Breeders’ Cup on our minds (this weekend folks! don’t miss the most exciting race of the year!), we went out to the barn for a visit. My passion when I shoot dogs is action…crazy expressions, running with abandon, leaping through the air…but sadly, this was just the barn, not a morning workout. So as we said hello to everyone, I took some head shots. And I mean we said hello to EVERYONE. Most of them were very curious about my camera bag and thought it might be something fun to nibble on. I had to be careful if I had my back to one stall while photographing another! It was good for me to dust off my 50mm, since I rarely pull it out of my bag.
Meet Hector, he is a two year old who is small for a thoroughbred, very calm and well-mannered, but apparently full of himself on the track, and so far, has a good reason for it!
He has a gorgeous mane (oh, how I wish it were longer…)
And this is Cantana Perez. It was dinner time so she was stuck in her stall.
Helllo there, might you have a snack for me?
As the horses waited patiently (or not so patiently, in the case of one), we said our goodbyes….good luck to all the horses and riders on Saturday!
