I was waiting for her all summer…..

Meet Sardou.  Sardou is a Flat-Coated Retriever, just like my dog, Blue!  Now, Sardou isn’t your average dog.  Sardou is Ch Artic Sun’s Hot Tamale Baby UD MH MX MXJ.  For those that are unfamiliar with AKC titles, UD means Utility Dog, and it is an obedience title, the highest you can obtain.   MH means Master Hunter.  Again, the highest level you can obtain in field work with your dog.  Why should I mention this?  Because both of these titles are very difficult to achieve with a dog, and some never do even after years of trying.

And that being said….if you were present during the photoshoot, you would have NO IDEA Sardou had any training at all!  🙂   Sardou is 12 years old, and generally gets away with anything she wants.  The average lifespan for Flatcoats is much younger than 12, so she has beat the odds, and deserves to be spoiled at this point in her life.  You will be surprised at the photos….except for her little grey chin, you would guess she was much younger.  She is very sound, and has plenty of energy to spare.   Her owner (and I ) contribute this not only to excellent breeding and conformation, but also her holistic veterinary care, and a raw food diet.  Say hello to Sardou….

She is good at posing, on her own terms of course.  🙂  Then it was time for some lizard hunting.

I think I found one!

She was getting hot, so we had a water break, and took some indoor shots.   It took her a while not to get excited when I got on the ground with her, but she finally relaxed….

Back outside to the river!  Check out the water trails from her tail wagging…..

Twelve years old?  Seriously?  Her dad really got her going, check out the zoomies this girl is capable of!

Love her big eyes in the second shot – pure Flatcoat craziness.

Some final beauty shots of the girl.  Thank you to Karen and Dwight for taking the time to drive up from Durango.  I hope I did her justice!

utski Wow, beautiful photos! I really love all of the them but the first one with the water trail from her tail tell volumes of her spirit. She looks like a very special girl.

Carolyn Great shots Jen. I can attest to the fact that she doesn’t act her age. She is still quite a tease with the boys, but keeps them in check with no problem. Even persistent Blue.
I love the water trail one and the one where she found the lizard.
Carolyn

Janet So glad that your summer is complete having taken these lovely photos of the grand, spirited, and talented Ms. Sardou. Thanks so much for sharing them!

lori kunz What wonderful photos that really capture the true Sardou!, she is truly an ambassador to the breed. I was lucky enough to handle her at the Flat Coated Retriever National Specialty 2010 where out the the veteran class (just shy of 12 y/o) Sardou went on to win an Award of Merit which is an honor at any age but a veteran is very special!
I am honored to have bred this dog and own her sister.

Stephanie Lovely photos, all of them! I especially love the second one. Sardou is a beautiful girl, I hope I get to meet her someday!

Don FCR These are really great shots. It is hard ot pick a favorite…lizarding…in the water…on the floor…they all offer a view of a different side of the dog. And yes, she is beautiful from all sides.

Linda Fabulous series of photos in a stunning environment! I love the ones with Dwight… so full of play. A great youngster at 12, wahoo Sardouuuuuuuuu! Nice work, Jenn!

Karen You certainly did do her justice — these are just stunning! I am so thrilled and grateful that you’ve caught on film — not just her good looks, but those quirky, spirited, individual expressions so dear and familiar to me. Thank you so much, Jen!
