The newest addition to Telluride’s dog pack

I have no idea why, but despite my prodding, Molly’s owner wanted to wait until she was older to have a photo session.  To be honest, it drove me crazy, because she was stinkin’ cute as a baby!  Here is an iphone shot of her in my store.

You can understand why I was dying to photograph her.  And I have plenty of practice with pups, they can be much easier than adult dogs at times.  But I could not convince her (sigh).   Her owner decided on one of my new mini sessions which are perfect for puppies.  It was a good choice because I got plenty of shots, but with her energy, she could have handled a full session.  Molly bonded with me right away and didn’t care that her mom and “big brother” were watching us nearby.  She never even bothered to check in with them.  I kinda wanted to take her home….she is just super sweet and smart.

I was amazed when I saw the photos, because in some of them, she looks so much more adult than she is.  She was about half the size of a full grown Bernese, and was confident, playful, and very inquisitive.  Here is Molly at almost six months old!

We decided to do the shoot by the river, and Molly was hilarious about the water.  Brave at first, she went and checked it out, walked right in, and then leapt out with a very suspicious look.

Big brother Max, making sure she was okay.

No thanks!!!  How ’bout I come get you instead?

I will admit that she was fun to get action shots of, especially because the snow was heavy this late in the season and she really had to work hard to plow through it.   Puppy energy is something to behold!

A break now and then is okay too…

But not for long….here I go!!!  (Check out the pink – PINK! – paw pads…..so darn cute).

WHOOPS that snow was a bit deeper than she expected….how very undignified (don’t worry Molly, I fell backward onto my photography backpack during the shoot – the snow was really deep in parts)!

Back to the river we go…..

She wandered over to the REALLY shallow part….maybe that is more her style…..although she sure looks like I am going to throw her in or something!

Nope!  Not a water dog!  LOL

One of my favorite shots.  Running full speed at me on the trail.  I love the snow flying everywhere.  This girl has the energy of a retriever right now.

And, the obligatory “beauty shot”.  Not to hard with this girl.  Thanks Liz, for letting me  convince you that you will look back on these when she is grown and smile with happiness, and for being so understanding about my schedule in regards to getting the blog up.  I will have your gallery for you as soon as possible.  Please give Max and Molly lots of kisses for me!

Carolyn Beautiful shots. I love that last one “beauty shot”. The snow looks like soap suds. Bernese always look great in snow shoots.

Cathy Lynch I love these photos! Jen you caught that cheeky look in her eyes! She’s a beautiful girl.

Rhea Dodd Jen– you get so much animation in your photos! You can really see the personality of the dogs shine through!

Elyse Amazing wintery light in these! Really brings out how glossy this young lady is!

Don Really an amazing shoot. Bernese are so photogenic, and this one has some really great, animated expressions. I love the one with her head down, eyeng the camera.

Deb so cute. I love her sinking into the deep snow and the sparkle in her eyes. 🙂

Karen What a gorgeous puppy! Wonderful light for her — her coloration really pops! Particularly love her animation in those running shots. You got such great eye contact!
