Golden Retrievers take over Telluride?

For a while, it was Flatcoats.  But I had several Golden sessions this summer instead, with Finn and Max back to back.  Almost the same age, Max is slightly older at two years old and was just as fun.  Max was visiting from Houston, and you can only imagine how happy he was to be out of the Texas heat.  Not to mention his owners, David and Lisa!  We only did a half session with Max, but in 45 minutes I had enough great images that it was torture narrowing them down.  Max was handsome, but also just such a character!  The looks he gave at times would crack me up.  He’s a beauty though, wet or dry.  And we actually found a few flowers on the river.  Typical of any of retriever, he didn’t stay dry for long.
Max has a funny (but potentially teeth damaging) habit of diving for rocks.  My last dog liked to do this also, and it resulted in a cracked molar later in life.  To all the veterinarians out there, I am sorry – I am responsible for throwing a rock for Max to retrieve.  Forgive me…..
No Max, I don’t think that one is big enough.   lol!

More “I’m so handsome” shots…..such a poser, I love it!

And frankly, with working dogs, I think action shots are also beauty shots…..

We had a bit of an issue when one of his rocks went over the edge of the “waterfall”….what to do, what to do…..

Maybe I can get it with my paw?Maybe not.

Where did mom go????  Why isn’t she helping me?  This is one of Max’s classic “looks”.   It cracks me up every time.

Oh, to heck with it.
Another one of Max’s more interesting quirks is his love of rolling in the ROCKS.  Not the grass, but the rocks.  Is it like a hot rocks massage?  Who knows.
And he isn’t vain at all….
But as always, I will end with a beauty shot.   David and Lisa, thanks so much for allowing me to photograph Max!  He was so much fun!  I hope to see you next summer when you escape the Texas heat, and good luck with Max’s field career!

Carolyn Great shots Jen. I love the head shots.

Tiffany Beautiful boy, beautiful shots! Love the feet in the air shot, and diving for rocks…

Maggie Sooo handsome! And a great little rock hunter. Awesome shots, Jen!

Don I love the water droplets in mid-air. I also love the “candids” of him rolling in the rocks and him shaking. Really a nice set of pictures… I’ll bet the owners will have a hard time picking their favorite.
