One gorgeous spring puppy!

I’m so delayed in posting this but getting ready for the summer season is always so busy!   In mid-May, my Flat-Coated Retriever, Blue, had a date with a pretty girl named Venus…and her owner brought along two other guests:  JayCee, and Aretha.  Aretha (Coastalight Daydreaming Altair) was a 9 week old puppy bred by Blue’s breeder, so I couldn’t help but be drawn to her immediately, and we had a mini photo session before they headed back to California.  Aretha is out of a breeding of UK Ch Pajanbeck Prince of Thieves and Ch SHR Coastalight All My Loving WC JH RN CGC (SAR).  She was 9 weeks old at the time — a little social butterfly and retrieving maniac all wrapped into one beautiful puppy.  Our photo session was short for two reasons:  Puppies this young don’t last very long during sessions in general, and about 20 minutes into our shoot, a snow/hail storm blew in and we all dove for cover. Welcome to Spring in Telluride!

I brought with me a Ruffwear puppy bumper which Aretha thought was God’s gift to Flatcoats!

Even distractions wouldn’t make her lose her hold on that bumper!

Although even the most exuberant puppy needs a rest occasionally.  Preferably in grass.

Okay, yes we know, it is a bad thing to play tug with a training bumper, but it was for photos!  And wasn’t it worth it?

Puppy Break!  I wanted to get some shots of JayCee, and it turns out she doesn’t stop moving too much….here she is doing some retrieves with her “big girl” bumper!  Girls gone wild!!

But she can sit pretty, too.

But really…. she is just a nut.  🙂

Aretha’s back!  And with her puppy bumper of course!   I think I was meowing to her in these two shots.  Or making some bizarre noise to get her attention.  It worked.  🙂

Yes, even with the 20 minute time limitation imposed by Mother Nature, I did manage to get a few shots of her without her prized bumper.

Aretha, I am SO glad I got to meet you, and hope I see you in the future, because I can’t wait to see how gorgeous you are all grown up!  As you can tell from the last shot, she is Daddy’s little girl.  She is, of course, waiting for him to throw her bumper.  🙂

deb too precious. I adore those big puppy paws of hers.

Karen She is darling! Love the flying ears! Also particularly admire the black & white portrait of that sleek Jaycee!

Carolyn She looks like a ball of fire. Well actually they both do for that matter. Great shots.

Linda Reynolds Great series! My favorite is of her beside her Dad’s boots… priceless!

Laura Beck We own Aretha’s mother so are thrilled to see these beautiful photos!

Jan Eggin ton Love these Jen,so pretty.
Lovely pics of both girls.

Don Freeman I love the puppy shots with the ears up and out, and when she was tugging. The ones of Jaycee running uphill are great, especially with the mountain obscure in the background.
